About the Artist
A Ceramic Artist in Ongoing Dialogue with the Earth
Story
It all began after school,
when a teacher and friends first introduced him to ceramics.
The sensation never left him —
it settled quietly in the depths of memory.
Through years of work in the arts,
a thought slowly took shape:
"If it were me — I would make it differently."
Born in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, in 1959.
He studied aesthetics and art history at Beppu University,
and from there, pursued a visual language entirely his own —
unbound by tradition, yet deeply rooted in it.
Honoring the gifts of nature while embracing a contemporary eye,
his work weaves together the traditions of Japanese civilization
and the sensibilities of the modern world.
He continues, still —
in pursuit of harmony between the beauty of the natural world
and the rhythm of the universe.
He takes the raw earth in his hands, and listens — to the voice of soil, water, and fire. The character of the land. Its texture. Its resistance. Its color. From each of these, a work with its own expression is born.
