Purchase Information
To ensure the safe delivery of these precious works, please read the following information.
01 — Returns and Exchange Policy
Returns and Exchanges
As every piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation, we cannot accept returns or exchanges for personal reasons. We appreciate your understanding.
Damage During Shipping
To ensure your precious piece arrives safely, we pack each item with the utmost care and ship via Yamato Transport or Yu-Pack. In the unlikely event that a piece is damaged during transit, you may choose from the following two options:
1. Delivery of an equivalent piece
We will send an equivalent piece to replace the damaged one. Please understand that as all items are unique, no two pieces are exactly alike.
2. Restoration via Kintsugi
You may return the damaged piece, and the artist will restore it using Kintsugi before returning it to you. Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique where broken areas are mended with gold, creating a new expression and value. Depending on the timing, restoration may take approximately six months to complete.
If damage is confirmed, please contact us via the inquiry form with photographs within 7 days of the product’s arrival. Please note that we cannot accept notifications sent more than 7 days after delivery under any circumstances.
02 — Characteristics of the Work
Characteristics of Raw Clay
Since ancient times, it has been said
that we are born from the earth,
and to the earth we return.
The works of Kimitoshi Yamashita realize something
that appears simple at first glance —
yet is, in truth, extraordinarily rare:
taking that earth, exactly as it is,
and making it into a vessel.
Not refined. Not processed.
Raw earth — containing particles of stone and sand —
becomes a vessel for daily life.
Nature itself, resting in the palm of your hand,
as a tool for the everyday.
That is the essential value of these works —
a value found nowhere else.
The characteristics below are not defects.
They are proof that the earth itself
has become a vessel, just as it is.
Please enjoy them as the individual character of each work.
Water Seepage and Bleeding
This is a natural characteristic created by the stone and sand particles contained in the Raw Clay. The way water seeps through is a unique expression belonging only to that vessel. Please enjoy this as a dialogue with the piece. They can also be enjoyed as decorative items.
Cracks and Fissures
Cracks may occur due to the coarse Raw Clay and the Yakishime firing process. These are natural expressions created by the clay and the flames, and the artist cherishes them as part of the art. Each piece possesses its own distinct personality.
03 — Care and Handling
Caring for Your Piece
Washing Instructions
These works have the mysterious property of being cleaned simply by rinsing with water. This may be a manifestation of EM and wavelength processing energy. If detergent is necessary, please use a mild neutral detergent. Avoid using scrubbing brushes or abrasive sponges.
Microwaves and Dishwashers
Please avoid using microwaves and dishwashers. We recommend gentle hand-washing.
Storage
Store in a well-ventilated area. We hope you will display the pieces in your daily living space rather than keeping them tucked away in a box, so that you may directly feel the energy of the vessel. The artist also suggests that “placing the vessel in nature, such as in the soil, among grass, or fallen leaves, further enhances its charm.” We invite you to try this.
